RUNIC WISDOM - MARCH 9

Often when I feel in need of divine encouragement,

I recite my favourite road prayer: Maranatha, 

A single word in Aramaic whose meaning is,

"Come Lord"

Ma-ra-na-tha. The tradition from which it descends

is deep and ancient, steeped in the practise of sages

and teachers and saints, a fine tradition of

meditation,. I subscribe to that. And although I

often go months without saying it, I always come

back to it: Maranatha ... Come Lord!

So simple and elegant  and powerful.

Knowing that what is mine will come to me,

I release the old and give thanks for the blessings of my life.

I am ready and willing to embrace change.

Wanting for nothing, how shall I be dismayed?

Grieving for no thing, lost or unattained,

Why would I choke on the sharp bones of regret?

I am a guest in this house, thoughtful of my manners,

Mindful of my privileges, and so filled with gratitude

That when I pray, my prayers turn to praise,

  upon my lips.

Were I to die, just as I am, surrounded so with beauty,

My soul returning to its source, opened wide

And revealing the map of my journey,

Would show forth, undiminished, beauty only,

  only beauty.

And so, Beloved. I have written this poem for you.

Fire is heavens light

in its palest hue.

That fiery branch

burning at the heart's center

claims its kinship

with the sun.

What hid itself in shadows

is clear to me now.

RUNIC WISDOM - MARCH 4

O you whose ways are our ways when we let them be,

Hear our prayer.

Provide us with a set of sacred tools,

Whose right use can be lovingly detected in each other's eyes,

Tools that loose their benediction on our ancient bondage,

And heal us from all wounds of seperation,

Tools that, in our hands, define us as your children.

And so we offer up the fruit of this our prayer.

Help us, we pray, to bring it forth

From the highest possible place

And for the greatest possible good.
