The norwegian phenomenon; "JANTE-LOVEN"

The "jante-law" is a text, not a law, written by the norwegian/danish writer Aksel Sandemose in 1933. It is from a book called "A fugitive crosses his tracks". This text gives a great image of all humans ability to be evil and somewhat cruel, and also our ability to push others down.

This is "Janteloven":

1: You must not think you are someone
2:You must not think you are as much as us
3: You shall not think you are smarter than us
4: You should not imagine you are better than us
5: You shall not think you know more than us
6: You shall not think you are more than us.
7: You should not think you're good for anything
8: You shall not laugh at us
9: You should not think anyone cares about you
10: You must not think that you can teach us anything

So... the reason I'm posting this in english is because I just want to put some reality about norwegian and maybe scandinavian,(swedes and danes, is it the same in your countries?) way of living their lives, way of thinking about others and way of being. I guess "Janteloven" has been the number one reason for a lot of norwegian imigrants to the U.Strangely, for us, it's not like that "over there"!
WHY?
